“Here, we are still in the world of beautiful antiques and flea markets. And even if we are more cramped than usual, it’s still a success,” notes Patrick Verrier.
The organizer of Antiques, flea market and crafts fair of Compiègne is satisfied with this 2nd edition in a row at the Saint-Nicolas rooms. Same observation from the godmother of the show, Sophie Picardjournalist and author of the show Le Monde de Sophie on France 3 Picardie.
While waiting for the return, next year, to the Victoire meeting center (currently under construction), this 28th edition of the Show welcomed thirty-five exhibitors. “It was a crazy undertaking but it’s so beautiful,” enthuses antiques dealer Patrick Verrier. This decor is sublime. Visitors are amazed!”
Gift idea or favorite purchase
This show is “an ideal place to find an original gift idea because there is a very wide range of objects here and at all prices”. You can find a nice piece there for a few euros, just like a piece of furniture, a statue, a bronze, a painting…
This year, the bar of 3,500 visitors was crossed, thanks to the presence of national-scale antique dealers from all regions. “The stands are well stocked and many of these visitors are regulars,” comments Patrick Verrier. They come to find gift ideas or simply give in to a “crush”. Many exhibitors come here regularly.”
In the aisles, it was sometimes difficult to make your way. A luthier offers violins and cellos, and various musical instruments. Further on, an exhibition of lighting fixtures from yesteryear adjoins a repair watchmaker. A painting restorer officiating for the national palaces is part of the party. While one stand offers old books, another silversmith’s cutlery… Yet another ceramics from the 50s and 60s with famous signatures. Or perfume bottles from prestigious brands.
