“I recognize and I regret,” declares Jason Thuillier, in front of the Compiègne court. This man, almost 31 years old, is accused of domestic violenceoccurring at The Saint Ouen Crossduring December.
Staying in an apartment at the Coallia home, he met his friend at Café smile some time ago. “At the beginning, everything was fine, he was nice,” she told the police when filing her complaint. The victim was already the victim of domestic violence at the hands of her ex, which Jason Thuillier knew. She also benefits from a “serious danger” telephone.
She first denounces violence that occurred at her parents’ home, where the couple spent New Year’s Eve. Jason realized that there was still a photo of his girlfriend’s ex on his Instagram account. He took advantage of the father-in-law’s temporary absence to “shake” her for the first time. And to insult her as a “dirty female dog”. “He headbutted me twice,” she denounces. “That day, we watched series,” he says. In the evening, at his parents’ house, I had a little jealous attack.” He confirms with slaps behind the head. “It shocked her because her ex was beating her,” he admits.
“I regret my action out of anger,” he assures. We had good times. I apologize to her parents but especially to her. I’m trying not to drink anymore, I’ve slowed down on cannabis…”
Two episodes of violence
She mentions another episode of violence that occurred at the beginning of December at her brother’s house in Compiègne. “He kicked me and brushed me, for fun,” she says. He had drunk a bottle of vodka.”
The guests undressed him to cool him down in the shower. “Here, suck!”, he said to his partner while holding his penis. “He didn’t remember it the next day,” the victim said. She doesn’t want to see him anymore, because she’s afraid. “He has already put a “gun” between the eyes of his ex,” she adds about the defendant, actually judged as a repeat offender, after a judgment by the Beauvais court in June 2023. It was on the mother of his three children.
“I was trying to get my foot over his head,” he recalls of the “game”. I touched her, but it wasn’t intentional. It didn’t make her laugh.” He doesn’t remember what happened next. “I would have grabbed her by the ears,” he marvels. If that were the case, she wouldn’t have stayed with me.” At the table, he hit himself before headbutting the wall.
“I regret,” he said more generally, without knowing what to say in court. I have problems with the justice system… “We have no problem with you,” corrects the president. It’s madame who denounces the beatings.” “I stopped drinking…” he continues. “But you continued the violence,” notes the court. “I’m working on myself and it’s not easy,” he explains. I can’t explain to you why I’m like this. I had a heatstroke. I couldn’t speak…” Before choking back a tear.
23 mentions in the criminal record
The defendant presented a criminal record “provided” with 23 mentions. For concealment, theft, carrying a weapon, narcotics, violence, domestic violence, death threats, escape after external placement, outrages. Having followed training during his detention, he benefited from the advice of his girlfriend for the papers. Incarcerated five times, he suffers from addiction to alcohol and cannabis. “It’s a problem that ruins your life,” notes the court.
“Sometimes I want to drink to forget my problems,” he explains. I told myself it was the last time I would go to prison.”
Having failed to respect the ban on residence in Beauvais following drug trafficking, he received twenty months, twelve months of which were suspended. He had to negotiate an arrangement for the eight months firm. Wandering since 2022, he is currently serving two probationary sentences. “I grew up surrounded by violence,” he laments. My father beat my mother.”
“Trivialization of violence, for both the accused and the complainant”
Maître Lisa Valette defends the complainant. “They’re a recent couple. He was aware that she had already been a victim of domestic violence. She meets someone nice with whom “it’s all rosy”. There is a new situation of violence which she blames on alcohol. Then new violence on December 31, for a crisis of jealousy without consumption of alcohol. She estimates the moral damage at €1000.
“He was perfectly aware of his girlfriend’s past as a victim of domestic violence,” notes the prosecutor. There can be a trivialization of violence on both sides. These brushes seem to him to be a game during which he manages to hurt her “involuntarily”. Finally, there is this unpleasant sexual context of this evening of December 31, where he demands fellatio.
He requires twenty months in prison, including twelve months suspended on probation. With the ban on contact and going to the victim’s home, he will have to compensate him. With obligation for psychological care and for alcohol. Then follow a domestic violence awareness course and work. He requests the committal warrant and the revocation of two suspended sentences, up to eight months. That’s sixteen months in total.
“Going back to prison will be useless”
Maître Chloé Tourre asks for the greatest leniency regarding her client. “It soon has twenty-four mentions. From the second sentence, we are on firm ground. He had no say in the matter. Alcohol is his way of dealing with problems. His journey is catastrophic. He got out of prison without ever working. The dynamic established in the summer of 2024 is no longer there. He left school in the fifth grade. The people close to him are the ones he is most unfair to. It’s not jealousy, it’s fear of abandonment. He regrets and admits everything. His psychological journey has already been made. I just ask you to see his efforts, even if they are small.”
“Going back to prison will be of no use at all. I’m going to come out again at 32 or 33 years old…” He received twenty months in prison, twelve of which were suspended on probation for two years, as well as six months of suspended sentence revocation. That’s fourteen months in total. The court issued a warrant of committal. Upon his release, he must respect the required obligations. And compensate the victim to the tune of €800.
