He was a candidate in the last legislative elections in the 1st constituency of Oise but he is above all a Beauvaisian. So when he hosted a reception to thank his supporters Friday night, Souhail Aouad could not escape questions about municipal elections. Especially since Beauvais the campaign is well underway and the majority of Franck Pia (and Caroline Cayeux) and the left-wing opposition are already exchanging a few pleasantries.
The question arises all the more since in 2020 Souhail Aouad appeared in 38th position on the Beauvais list for everyone led by Caroline Cayeux. And today, he repeated it this Friday evening: “I have no side. I am not partisan“.
A Souhail Aouad list?
Could he maintain this independence until the vote, by creating his own list? He doesn’t say no. He said: “Today I don’t know yet“. Which is unclear. But it’s already a change compared to 2020. “What changed was the legislative elections and the exchanges that I was able to have with a new base of activists», he replies. “If there are people tomorrow, I am ready to take my responsibilities. Today nothing is done. Whatever happens I will be in the equation for the municipal elections», adds Souhail Aouad. It’s already clearer.
Today the president of the Young Economic Chamber of Beauvais has a choice. He can create his list if he manages to gather enough volunteers. But it is still an integral part of Beauvais pour tous, the association which supports the municipal majority. And he was also solicited by an opposition list with a view to the next elections. “Yes but I didn’t follow up“, he specifies.
Building a program
Whatever he chooses, Souhail Aouad wants to start by defining his ideal program. It was also his big announcement in the assembly this Friday evening. “Let’s get together morehe says to the forty people in front of him. From next year, if you want, to take stock of the situation.» Because that is where every political program begins.
But for him, that doesn’t necessarily mean that he will launch his list. “What interests me is the program, the ideas», insists Souhail Aouad.
