A helicopter and two fighter planes of theAir Force have been mobilized this Sunday January 19 to escort two passenger planes who had lost. Both planes were confused towards theBeauvais airportwhere they were able to land without incident.
They had to connect Pontarlier to Reims
The two planes in question had taken off from Pontarlier (Doubs) and were heading to Reims (Marne). But due to bad weather conditions, the two young pilots got lost. They were not yet qualified for instrument flight (when visual flight is impossible, because there is no visibility).
The two planes were lost north of Paris.
The Air Force immediately activated a device to intercept these two aircraft in this airspace completely prohibited from overflight.
Guided by fighter planes for an hour
Initially, a Rafale B took off from the Saint-Dizier air base (Haute-Marne) and a Mirage 2000-5 took off from the Evreux air base (Eure). The two aircraft had the mission of simultaneously coming to the aid of the two lost pilots.
Secondly, a Fennec-type helicopter was mobilized. His mission was to identify the most suitable terrain to divert the two planes in difficulty.
After a little over an hour, the two tourist planes whose pilots had gotten lost were able to land safely at Beauvais airport.
On the ground, the gendarmerie took over to carry out the usual checks with the pilots concerned.

On his social networksthe Air and Space Force recounts this intervention and recalls that it ensures the protection of airspace against aerial threats, but also comes to the aid of aircraft in difficulty via this “permanent security posture “.
