Where others are struggling to get along, the members of the committee of Mixed union of the department of Oise (SMDO), all political edges combined, have just once again showed their ability to agree, including about the budget. Indeed, gathered on Wednesday February 5 in the union committee, representatives of the 19 adhering inter -municipalities voted unanimously the 2025 budget in an amount of 97 million euros.
Philippe Marini, president of the SMDO, had led the budgetary orientation debate on December 18. During the last committee, the budget vote proved to be in accordance with the debate. Among the essential decisions, it has been noted that the adhering communities will not have to bear an increase. This also means that, by repercussions, taxpayers (almost 90% of the Oisian population) will not have to pay more for the treatment and enhancement of their waste.
€ 67 million in this budget are devoted to operation. This incorporates all transport, sorting and treatment of waste, including those from recycling centers. 48% of expenses are funded by various supports and industrial revenues. The latter come mainly from the resale of materials sorted by the SMDO sorting center (located in Villers-Saint-Paul) to recycling plants, 80 % of which are based in France. The SMDO, which resells live materials, favors regional contracts in order to strengthen the virtuous circle of the circular economy.
€ 30 million in investment
€ 30 million in this budget are dedicated to investment. This year, this is particularly a question of launching the site of the connection of the urban heating of Creil (€ 16 million), which will eventually heat 6000 social housing units, or some 15,000 inhabitants. In addition, € 1.5 million will finance the improvement of the process of the sorting center.
The SMDO and the 19 intercommunalities continue to work hand in hand to control expenses and optimize revenue. And for the latter, the involvement of each user is essential: it is necessary to sort better and even more to enhance the waste and maintain below 52 % the residual part of the operating cost incumbent on local authorities and, in fine, to taxpayers .
“This is how, such as the cat, the union will always fall back on its legs,” said President Philippe Marini.
