THE Compiègne Castle becomes a satellite of the Moon. Since Thursday December 12, the Salle des Colonnes has housed the Lunar Rover Flex from the Venturi firm. The public will be able to admire this vehicle until January 16.
The Venturi group has established a manufacturing program for electric lunar rovers, equipped with hyper-deformable Flex wheels and high-performance batteries. Produced in close collaboration with Venturi Astrolab based in Los Angeles, this Lunar Rover should land on the Moon at the end of 2026 or early 2027. It will allow scientific experiments, and even transport goods before, why not, taking charge of astronauts at the 2030 horizon.
The Car Museum, housed since 1927 at the Château de Compiègne, has exceptional automobiles in its collections. This is the case of the Citroën half-track like the “Elephant in the Tower” of the Croisière Noire. Or the famous “Jamais Contente”, Camille Jenatzy’s electric racing car at the controls of which he crossed the threshold of 100 km/h.
