“The objective is to make professional drivers aware of road dangers,” says Jean-Marie Caillaud, in the middle of the sugar beet countryside. Tuesday November 26, the new prefect of Oise organized a day of awareness on the risky behavior. He met drivers of sugar beet trucks to the Tereos candy of Chevrières.
The beet campaign runs until January. It requires numerous rotations between the fields and the sugar mill. Semi-trailers must necessarily use sometimes narrow roads, as close as possible to the beet depots, shared with all road users. “This traffic and its particularities increase the risk of road accidents,” explains the prefect of Oise.
Tuesday, November 26, all the drivers who came to drop off their cargo at the Tereos sugar factory in Chevrières took part in group training. Agents from the Departmental Territorial Directorate reminded us of the regulations.
Alcohol, drugs, speed, telephone
Before discussions with the gendarmerie and the prefecture services (road safety) around the following themes:
- alcohol and drugs while driving
- respecting speed limits
- dangers of using cell phones while driving.
- presentation of departmental accidentology
“The imperatives of the beet campaign which is in full swing are numerous,” concludes the prefect. We want to engage with companies to improve the safety of all road users.”
