Dirty times for companies and even more for employees who work there. A few days ago, layoffs were highlighted in the Montaire territory. The Akzonobel paint site undergoes internationally, a wave of deletion of positions. The Montaire site, although planned to accommodate a new department, will indeed see its amputated staff of ninety personal.
The second to date to display a departure would be none other than the Stokomani site or more precisely the two sites located in Verneuil-en-Halatte and Creil, in the heart of the Alata zone, on the side of the air base.
The management is rather discreet about its intentions, but nevertheless gave the impression of wanting to bet on the south of the department with construction and an operation of a site of more than thousands of m² in 2024.
The warehouse of 63,220 m² covered in the Alata technological park area is made on a plot of almost 150,000 m² including 61,000 m² of storage area.
Four blocks ranging from 1,700 to 12,000 m² are devoted to office spaces and social premises.
The group’s supervisory board, which was held on June 4, 2024, appointed Philippe Thirache, president of Stokomani. The group is owned by the Family Office of the Zouari family. Family Office ZOuari is a key player in retail sale in France and has for example Picard frozen, Franprix, Monoprix, Maxi Bazar and of course Stokomani.
Last November, the inter-union including the CFDT, FO, the CGT and the CFE-CGC observed a strike movement. He then criticized management “for not responding to most of the proposals and claims carried by the trade union organizations”.
Only here, since then, the situation has seriously degenerated on this site of more than 4000 square meters and brand new.
A reorganization project elsewhere than in Creil
The first union to sound the alarm is a worker force.
The union representatives denounce “serious social consequences of the reorganization project currently in negotiations within the brand”.
This project provides for the closure of several warehouses, namely that of Alata 1 and that of Alata 3. The idea would be to keep the Venette warehouse. At the same time, it would be envisaged the move of the head office outside the department of Oise for the end of summer 2025.
This could be explained by an estimated “ineffective” commercial strategy and a “rise of new competitors”.
Once again, the unions denounce a social policy there also estimated “disastrous”.
The program is not brilliant for employees who work there since it would be envisaged purely and simply a closure of the site. What reclassifications? Existence of a layoff plan? For the time being, it is radio silence.
Never two without three
And as if that were not enough, a more than insisting rumor circulates on the departure of the company specializing in the chemical industry, the Chemours company. In 2023, it was however with great fanfare with ministerial visit and major project that the great mass was given before assistance of entrepreneurs and elected officials of the department. The company under American dominance would very seriously plan to make its boxes. If this was the case, goodbye the 200 million planned investments. Goodbye the jobs at the end. This would amount to leaving the inhabitants of the south of the Oise there with their PFAS which are regularly the subject of reports and questions. These eternal pollutants, on which many independent or not studies are found at least on one point: they exist.
It is difficult to obtain a provisional roadmap linked to the ambition of shareholders of the American group. Again, a fact is certain, employees mark a serious concern about the future.
In conclusion, and although the future is uncertain or in full negotiation currently in at least two of the three cited groups, the risks of departure or closure would inevitably result in a risk of loss of jobs, reclassifications and a drop in subsidies for the community.
Would the south of the Oise no longer be an economically fertile land? In several cases, the taxpayer, however, also puts hands in the pocket to facilitate the establishment and development of these brands.
