Arriving on Friday January 10, the travelers took possession of the former Intermarché parking lot south of Nanteuil-le-Haudouin. Gilles Sellier, the mayor of the city, confides “the city directly issued an order so that they could leave the same day they arrived”. Subsequently, Travelers appealed against this decision on Sunday. The case could therefore only be concluded before a court. Which was done this Tuesday, January 14.
The judges having ruled in favor of the town of Nanteuil-le-Haudouin, the nomads were ordered to leave on Tuesday. Still present this Thursday, January 16, the police intervened, which Gilles Sellier confirms: “Around forty gendarmes as well as the municipal police who came to dislodge the travelers.”
Anger and incomprehension on the part of travelers
This tense situation has caused anger and incomprehension among travelers. “They were the ones who opened the doors to us and four days later, they kicked us out.” A bad experience for their first visit to the town. “We were kicked out by force, we don’t even know where to go,” assures a member of the traveling community.
Eventually tensions subsided, and the Travelers left the area around 7 p.m.
