We hadn’t seen him pass. And the winner could almost have missed out too. On October 17, a customer of the bar-tabac-FDJ in Bailly, near Ribécourt-Dreslincourtwon the very nice sum of 400,000 euros. A gain won at Kenodrawing game, and validated in the establishment “Le Bailly”, named after the name of the village. The winner lives in Compiégnois. The Compiégnois, a country where it is good to play, if we rely on the very nice win also won at Balto in Compiègne, this November 15.
Cindy is the companion of Pierre Bertin, the manager of the establishment. She was at the bar the day the lucky guy discovered the good news. “He’s an occasional customer who comes to us mainly to play his games,” she says. A customer who had left his ticket… for a few days on the corner of a piece of furniture, before coming to have his ticket scanned and see if, by chance, he wasn’t going to add a few zeros to his bank account.
“I don’t know if he really realized it.”
“He showed up several days after the drawing,” Cindy continues, “we scanned his ticket and the machine immediately told us to call the Française des jeux (FDJ).” An alert that always bodes well: “This is the procedure for any gain greater than 30,000 euros,” she explains. Under Cindy’s eyes, the customer then checked his winnings live. His reaction? “I don’t know if he really realized it,” she laughs, “in any case, he left as he arrived, just as normally.”
No doubt once home, he smiled broadly or took out the champagne. If these 400,000 euros will perhaps not turn his life upside down, they will certainly allow him to accomplish some dreams.
Before that at Bailly, a maximum gain of 38,000 euros
For Bailly, who posted this extraordinary gain on his social networks, the event is also good news. “It creates publicity for the bar, it’s always a good thing,” confides Cindy. While Pierre Bertin took over the establishment 4 years ago, this gain is by far the largest won in the couple’s establishment: before that, the maximum gain was 38,000 euros.
The announcement of the jackpot and the display of the fake check also got regulars talking. “Obviously, they want to know who it is, if they know them, but we must respect the anonymity of the winner,” recalls Cindy. The jackpot also had another effect: “Keno is sometimes considered a game for “old people”, laughs the boss’s companion, and less publicized than the Loto or the Euromillion, but since the 400,000 euros, we Notice that the regulars are getting into it!”
Cindy finally hopes to bring a few more people into the tobacco bar, this lucky establishment. But the couple doesn’t just rely on chance: “We bring the bar to life with new things, like recently pizzas on site or to take away or also theme evenings.” Wednesday was Beaujolais Nouveau, the 3rd Thursday in November of course. “There was a crazy world!” welcomes Cindy.
The regulars undoubtedly toasted the health of the mysterious winner.
