The season is now over at Sand SeaTHE amusement park ofErmenonville. It is now time to take stock and make plans. Among the latter, the arrival of a new attraction in 2025 should delight lovers of this place like no other. THE Wild Buffaloa roller coaster in wood accessible to children from 1m10, is already being installed.
An investment of 5.5 million euros
“Work on this new attraction began in September 2024 and will continue throughout the winter to allow visitors to come and ride a wild bison from next spring,” says the Mer de Sable side. This new family “roller-coaster” represents an investment of 5.5 million euros.
In terms of results, those responsible for the Mer de Sable have reason to be satisfied with this season. “The Terrible Sea of Sand received its last visitors on November 3, they say. This 8th edition ofHalloween is a success. We welcomed more than 49,000 visitors, more than 2,000 more than the target. The park therefore ends the season with an increase in attendance of more than 20% compared to 2023 over this period.
370,000 visitors in 2024
Since its reopening on April 6, the Mer de Sable has welcomed nearly 370,000 visitors, representing an increase in visitor spending of 7% compared to 2023. “Despite a very slow start to the season due to particularly capricious weather , the park has been able to win over families thanks to its offer adapted to young people and its accessible prices,” estimate the park managers.
The winter promises to be busy for the Mer de Sable teams who have already set a target for 2025: “We want to reach 420,000 visitors!” The 2025 season will launch on Saturday April 5.
Located on an exceptional natural site in the heart of the Ermenonville forest, just opposite the royal abbey of Chaalis and a stone’s throw from the Jean-Jacques Rousseau park, the Mer de Sable is the first theme park in France created in 1963 by Jean Richard, “Animal Lover”.

Year after year, the park has been enriched with new attractions, new shows and new settings, transporting tribes of adventurers into the world of the Wild West. “In 2025, more than ever, the Mer de Sable asserts its vocation: to offer families a day of sharing emotions, sensations and adventures in an exotic natural setting to discover the Far West and the great outdoors,” conclude those responsible for the place. From the New Mexico Desert to the Mississi’ptits Valley, via the Colorado Canyon, there are so many experiences and discoveries to share as a family!
