Two ambulance-type vehicles were certainly victims of the parallel second-hand parts market. Saturday, January 11, it was barely 3:30 a.m. when the video recordings started in the parking lot of the Dhinaut ambulance transport company in Creil. Two individuals who do not even take the trouble to hide their faces or wear gloves carefully and expertly dismantle the headlights of two assistance vehicles, two recent ambulances. The dismantling of parts is recurrent in the sector and it is not uncommon for smart people to respond to a request simply corresponding to “parts orders”. However, the immobilization of two assistance and emergency vehicles causes cascading difficulties.
Two vehicles assigned to Samu60
“These are two vehicles which regularly provide assistance to the SAMU 60. These are important vehicles for the department and immobilizing them poses a serious intervention problem. This directly impacts people who may need this transport,” says Stéphane Dhinaut, manager of the Creillois site.
For the staff, it seems difficult to understand that health vehicles are being attacked in this way to profit from the sale of a few used parts,” underlines the site manager.
But the director is sure of it. Sooner or later the authors will be arrested anyway, since the good quality images were quickly exploited. Complaint is filed and the entrepreneur obviously does not intend to stop there.
“We must put a major stop to this type of degradation. Much more than a few mechanical parts, this poses a nuisance to personal assistance. “It’s much more serious than the simple aspect of the theft of mechanical parts.”
The objective of this complaint is to allow investigators to carry out their mission, above all to stop the temptations of certain people who might be tempted to come back and collect and dismantle a few parts to make some money.
A complaint to make an example
“It’s too easy. We must not forget that there is a violation of private territory and that it cannot stop there. The perpetrators didn’t even bother to conceal themselves. They will dismantle with complete impunity and in a methodical and very rapid manner the headlights of two vehicles of different brands. The vehicles are not operational and the time it takes to find the parts, this directly impacts the SAMU 60 and part of the company’s turnover.
The objective is to raise awareness that anyone who attacks ambulance vehicles risks paying dearly.
“Once again, there is the moral aspect of this damage, of his thefts. The patients do not necessarily understand that we cannot go there to take care of them, to ensure our transport mission. Explaining to them that this is not our doing, that seems important to us too.”
Stéphane Dhinaut impatiently awaits the result of the investigation, but as the images are in the hands of the investigators. Suffice to say that it will go quickly.
