Sentenced to life
Georges Ibrahim Abdallah73, has been imprisoned in France since 1984. He was the leader of the Lebanese Revolutionary Armed Fraction (FARL) in France, an armed terrorist organization claiming to be Marxist and anti-imperialist, fighting in particular against Israel and the United States in the context of the Lebanese War.
Since 1987, he has been serving a life sentence for complicity in the assassination, on French soil, of Lieutenant Colonel Charles R. Ray, military attaché of the United States Embassy in France, and of Yacov Barsimantov, counselor at the Israeli embassy.
Released since 1999, Georges Ibrahim Abdallah is still in detention. Incarcerated for 40 years, he is the oldest inmate in France.
