Few places bring together so many world champions per square meter, all sports combined. This is the case of the House of Martial Arts Crépy-en-Valois where the members of the Bushido karate of Valois.
There are three of them, in fact, to have won their medals on October 26 and 27 during the world championships of Krav Maga organized in Paris. This martial art, which originated in Israel, is experiencing growing success in this club where in four years, its practitioners have increased from 50 to nearly 150 practitioners. With karate, the club has a total of nearly 300 members, making it the first in Oise and Picardy and the second in Hauts-de-France, behind Lille.
Marcel Huet did it again
The youngest world champion, Maëlle Bessaha, won her title in the cadet category. There is also Marcel Huet, known as the white wolf, who had more or less abandoned competitions until he was convinced to do it again for the senior category in excess of 89 kg. The result was clean and without burrs. “He crushed them all,” laughs his trainer and federal instructor Christophe Marmet, also 5th dan in Krav Maga.
Marcel didn’t make a big deal out of it. “I told myself before accepting, why not and I went by feeling,” he says. “Make no mistake about it. Behind this title, there are hundreds of hours of training and a lot of rigor,” comments Stéphane Boulpicante, happy president of the club.
And as if two world champions weren’t enough, there is also Priscillia Ubieto, world champion in Krav Maga in the over 70 kg category.
The trail to the stars
This is without counting the podiums where the people of Crépy stood out. Thus, Paul Le Grand, trainer, finished 3rd in less than 73 kg in the veteran category. Vincent Spaens, 4th dan trainer, same success in the defense category under 65 kg and Moustafa Messaoudi, 2nd in the combat category over 89 kg. Joanne Bordelais and Karim Mamouri narrowly missed the podium with good fourth places in the combat category under 81 kg and under 73 kg.
It’s no longer a sports club, it’s the track to the stars. The Bushido Karate club has three disciplines, Krav Maga, Karate and full contact Karate.
“Krav Maga is a great experience for young people who then want to move towards MMA,” admits Marcel. Christophe Marmet is very optimistic for the future. “There is a group of young people who are very promising for the future,” enthuses the coach. Enough to bring even new medals to Crépy-en-Valois.
