As part of the 800 years of the Cathedralthe Catholic Church in Oise and the La Procure bookstore in Beauvais announce the upcoming arrival of a santon in the image of Saint Angadrême, patron saint of the city of Beauvais.
The santon will be available at Sainte-Angadrême on June 27, 2025. But from this weekend, it is possible to “pre-purchase” the santon and its book on the life of Saint Angadrême, at the price of 25 euros. (subscription form above)
The project was born at the end of 2023 and the manufacturing of the santon will begin in a few weeks.
A procession has existed since 1473
Angadrême founded a monastery near Beauvais where she devoted her life to prayer in the 7th century.
In 1472, the Burgundians besieged Beauvais. On the morning of June 27, the enemy attacked the city. A procession of the shrine of the Saint is led through the city. The enemy will not take the city. Since 1473, King Louis XI has instituted a procession and celebration of the Saint.
Soon, the Catholic Church in Oise will present its celebration program for the 800th anniversary of Beauvais Cathedral.
Until the end of the restoration work, the Catholic Church in the Oise will offer those who wish to discover Sainte Angadrême and the saints of the Oise: 2025 with the celebrations of the canonization of the Carmelites of Compiègne), the bishops of Beauvais (2026) and the Cathedral (2027).
