“We can have a drink and buy a sofa.” Established for three years in the district of the Staff School of Compiègnethe decorator Jorge Da Luz52 years old, will open a lounge bar in its showroom in the Cour d’Orléans.
Open from Friday December 6, it will also be called the Blue Maple (the Blue Maple). “It was my customers who encouraged me to open this lounge bar,” continues Jorge Da Luz. Indeed, there aren’t many lounges in Compiègne. That’s why I’m considering opening on Monday, or even Sunday.” The Blue Maple would open from Wednesday to Monday at least, until one in the morning. “The bar and decor activities will be linked,” continues Jorge Da Luz, who will serve the cocktails and aperitifs himself, behind the bar currently under construction. The prices charged will be “a little above average, but that goes with the place”. You enter the Blue Maple either through the Cour d’Orléans or via Rue Othenin, going down the majestic staircase, near the Imperial Theater.
A decorator who comes from the hotel industry
“I went to hotel school,” he recalls. Originally from Paris, he worked as a butler for more than thirty years. He worked in London, Switzerland, the United States, Africa, then Chantilly… “All my travels made me love decoration,” he explains. I stopped being a butler after covid.”
In 2020, he left Chantilly and moved to Compiègne. “I bought the business of the upholsterer Frédéric Miot, who had his workshop at the Haras, which I kept,” says Jorge Da Luz. During this period, he trained remotely in interior design.
“At Blue Maple, we have all the trades available thanks to my network,” says the merchant. In this showroom, it has until now offered: sale of sofas, furniture, lighting and decoration, furniture renovation, decorative furniture shop, installation of stretched ceilings, custom tailoring, fabric publisher… Now, we will also sell cocktails!
