In its edition of January 13, the newspaper Le Figaro publishes its prize list of the cities region where you can live while working in Paris. We thus discover the towns of Chantilly and Pont-Sainte-Maxence at the top of the medium-sized towns in this ranking.
The national daily compared 42 municipalities located outside Ile-de-France to identify “those which offer the best quality of life, while remaining close to Paris to work there”. Nearly 80,000 people use public transport every day to work in the capital while living outside Ile-de-France. They are called “commuters”.
Municipalities compared in this study
Le Figaro compared 42 municipalities outside Ile-de-France to establish its ranking, based on criteria such as: frequency, duration and cost of transport, real estate prices, provision of services in the daily life, security…
The newspaper therefore offers two rankings: that of large cities and medium-sized cities. For large cities, Orléans (Loiret) and Amiens (Somme) occupy the first two places in the ranking. As for medium-sized towns, two towns in Oise top the ranking. These are Chantilly and Pont-Sainte-Maxence.
Chantilly number 1 among medium-sized towns
Chantilly at the top of the ranking is very well ranked, particularly on the theme of the environment (2nd out of 31), or even on that of transport (again 2nd out of 31). However, Chantilly suffers from a higher cost of living compared to other surrounding municipalities (which can be seen by seeing the rankings for the themes of real estate (23rd out of 31) and daily life (13th out of 31).
Pont-Sainte-Maxence number 2 among medium-sized towns
For its part, the town of Pont-Sainte-Maxence finished in second position in this ranking of medium-sized towns. On the theme of transport, Pont is only about ten minutes additional transport time away compared to its neighbor Chantilly. On this item, Pont comes in 7th position out of the 31 municipalities listed by Le Figaro in medium-sized towns.
Positive point for Pont-Sainte-Maxence, the cost of living is much more affordable (1st out of 31 in the real estate category).
Another positive point, security: in this category, the municipality ranks 3rd out of 31.
