The facts date back to December 22. The mayor of Venette Romuald Seels had a violent altercation with the travelers. During this scene, he allegedly took out an alarm gun to threaten the Travelers. A complaint was filed by Francis Chagrelle, 20 years old, residing in Jaux. The mayor was then taken into custody for threats with a weapon.
In a press release sent on the evening of Wednesday, January 22, Compiègne public prosecutor Guillaume Dupont revealed that the complainant was also interviewed by investigators while in police custody.
Indicted and placed under judicial supervision
The Compiègne investigating judge in charge of the case has charged Francis Chagrelle with acts of violence against a holder of public authority. As for the alleged death threats against the mayor of Venette, he is placed under the status of assisted witness.
Following his indictment, Francis Chagrelle was placed under judicial supervision. In particular, he is prohibited from coming into contact with Romuald Seels and from not going to his home, in addition to not possessing or carrying a weapon.
