The city of Crépy-en-Valois decided to strengthen the control of infringements with the video-verbalization. As of January 15, motorists traveling in the town will just have to be careful. “With this additional tool for calming and securing public space, the city is continuing its action in favor of public peace and road safety,” explains the town hall. Very concretely, from January 15, 2025, municipal police officers will view live video surveillance images and note offenses remotely via the city’s video protection network.
Several offenses will be sought
“Parking, stop signs, traffic lights, prohibited directions, telephone use while driving, as well as illegal dumping will be viewed,” it is specified at the town hall.
The town of Crépy-en-Valois was perhaps inspired by the video-verbalization system put into service in Laigneville in May 2019 to “strengthen the fight against the main causes of road insecurity, particularly in urban areas, and lastingly modify the behavior of road users by encouraging them to strictly respect the rules of the highway code.”
Sworn and authorized agents
Around thirty traffic offenses can be punished with video-based fines because they do not require theinterception of driver. “It is the owner of the vehicle who receives the notice of violation by mail,” indicates a specialist on the site video-verbalisation.fr.
