But who will stop the meteoric rise of Sawsen Clément-Jebbari ? After having soundly beaten the former returning deputy Jacques Krabal for the presidency of the presidential party in Aisne, here she is propelled to the executive office of the party at the national level. And by whom? By the young former Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, today secretary general of the party.
“There was no application,” says the person concerned. I was appointed on the recommendation of the general secretary. So it was a nice surprise for me when I learned about it. I previously joined En Marche (EM, like Emmanuel Macron, editor’s note) which became Renaissance in 2016. My commitment and my convictions have not weakened despite a difficult context. It’s a recognition of that, I think. And the collective work that we carry out with my team and the members of Aisne.”
After this promotion within the national macronie by Gabriel Attal, she received a moving message from Elisabeth Borne, former Prime Minister who became Minister of National Education. “Elisabeth Borne, president of the national council, congratulated me.”

Sawsen Clément-Jebbari, teacher, could usefully explain a few things to the president of the national council who admits “knowing nothing about national education.” What the amateurism side so much praised by the President would lose, the employees of the mammoth that needed to be stripped down for a while would certainly gain in relevant responses. Elisabeth Borne’s latest proposal to reduce the summer holidays to improve the academic level of students did not provoke a tsunami of support among teachers…
If she does not feel herself growing wings, Sawsen Clément Jebbari feels great personal pride. “Gratitude, and more than ever, I want to carry high the colors of our department, its concerns, but also its extraordinary vitality. I also take from this appointment a message of confirmation on my way of doing politics. I am a fierce fighter. And I think we can fight a tough fight, without concessions, but without violence or low blows. Commitment must not be based on personal interests, it must be permanent, critical, but loyal. Finally, the first reflex must be how to get along with others for causes that are beyond us.”
Renaissance, a project for the future?
Climbing the ranks of the President’s party is good, but what will remain when Emmanuel Macron has to step aside from the Élysée in 2027? Is his party not in danger of turning to dust with his disappearance? Sawsen Clément-Jebbari swears not: “The French constitution does not in fact authorize the president to serve more than two mandates. We are fortunate to have among us many talented, dedicated people who have contributed to this extraordinary adventure. Together, thanks to these talents, we were able to face crises and courageously take on necessary structural changes. And we have remained true to our fundamentally pro-European values.”
The States General launched by Gabriel Attal represent the opportunity, within Renaissance, to debate together what our party is, considers Sawsen Clément-Jebbari. And what it must become in the months and years to come. Our members will have the opportunity to say what is wrong, what worries them and what gives them hope. »
Accustomed to fighting the National Rally, Sawsen Clement-Jebbari gives a flick to the 4 RN deputies (out of 5 in Aisne), but also to LFI which, for the occasion, asked for nothing. “Two by-elections have just taken place. Two successes for the candidates we support: in December against the RN in the Ardennes, today against LFI in Isère! Yes, Renaissance has a future ahead of it! »
