It’s already blowing hard on the coasts. Météo France has placed, for this Sunday, December 23, almost the entire territory on yellow alert, including Oise. Six departments are on orange alert. The coastal departments of Finistère, Calvados and Seine-Maritime (orange alert) are already experiencing winds of 90 to 11 km/h in places this morning even before the start of the event.
France has been affected since yesterday Saturday evening by the beginnings of a depression called Enol, “located to the west of Norway”, explains Météo France. A depression which will generate strong gusts and showers in the coastal departments, even inland.
In the Oise, gusts of up to 75 km/h
For the Oise, classified under yellow vigilance for winds and storms, Météo France forecasts “fairly strong westerly winds”, with “gusts reaching up to 75 km/h until the beginning of the afternoon”. For the second part of the afternoon, meteorologists are forecasting gusts of up to 65 km/h locally. The wind will continue to weaken with gusts reaching “55 km/h at the start of the night”. The phenomenon should continue to weaken overnight and tomorrow Monday.
Three other departments were placed on orange alert this Sunday in the north of the Alps (Isère, Savoie and Haute-Savoie) until Monday due to “heavy snowfall”. A phenomenon which should last until Monday. Snowy precipitation is also expected in the Pyrenees.
