“We must sacrifice some of our investment projects while waiting for better days,” announces Gilbert Bouteillemayor of Saint-Vaast-de-Longmont since 2020. During the wish ceremonythe mayor of this town of 647 inhabitants, located south of Verberie, took stock of the finances.
“Communal financial management is an increasingly difficult exercise to carry out,” he said. 2024 will have been a complicated year. Between the regular decline in state funding, the significant increase in costs, particularly energy, extracurriculars, multiple works… We must constantly reinvent our management methods and our organizations to achieve a balanced budget.”
Fortunately, he adds, “we are fortunate to benefit from the support of our partners”. He cites the Department, the DETR and the Agglomeration of the Compiègne Region.
Work to avoid energy losses
This observation did not prevent certain works from reaching completion.
- revaluation of the cemetery with the resumption of abandoned graves.
- development and renovation work on the church square.
- replacement of the town hall boiler (installation of a thermostat to regulate energy consumption), renewal of attic insulation to eliminate heat loss.
- redevelopment of the school’s kitchen area, with the purchase of stainless steel furniture to bring it up to standard.
- replacement of the radiators in the multipurpose room with connected electric inertia radiators.
“Part of this work aims to reduce energy costs,” says the mayor, himself very connected. This will continue at the start of the year with the replacement of all sodium lanterns with LED lamps. With the assistance of the Syndicat Electrique de l’Oise (SE60) and financial assistance from the Department.”
An orchard for the residents
Still in the environmental chapter, the mayor recalls the action of the children, “enthusiastic actors of a participatory planting with the creation of an orchard”. A project made possible thanks to the support of the PNR Oise Pays de France Regional Natural Park.
“Each resident will be able to come and harvest the fruits of this orchard for free,” explains Gilbert Bouteille. In order to facilitate access to the orchard, we are considering making the road passing under the viaduct one-way.”
As maintenance of video surveillance cameras ceased at the end of the warranty, the municipality now adheres to the CSI (Intercommunal Supervision Center). “On December 19, President Philippe Marini and I signed the amendment to the video surveillance convention, integrating our 7 cameras.”
Thanks to the agents
The mayor thanks the territorial employees, the secretary Anne-Sophie Delacotte and the ATSEM Angélique Vincent. As well as technical agents Charles Delaporte and Frédéric Bonzon, who replaced Thierry Zak.
“At the start of the school year, we had the pleasure of welcoming Audrey Hubert, Ms. Patte’s replacement teacher,” concludes the mayor. She joins the team of school teachers, ATSEM, and the after-school team.”
