Since the very morning, the public has been marching At the Auberge A la Bonne Idée of Saint-Jean-aux-Bois. Restaurateurs, second-hand dealers, but also individuals have just become familiar with the objects and furniture up for auction.
Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 December from 11:30 a.m., master Caroline Brunel-Dejean de la Bâtiejustice commissioner, will host this public auctionafter the judicial liquidation of the One Michelin Star restaurant.
The sale takes place at 3 rue des Meuniers in Saint-Jean-aux-Bois, where chef Sébastien Tantot was tenant of the premises. It is the company, and everything it holds, which is the subject of this liquidation. Everything that is considered movable property is therefore for sale.
580 lots including an IV license
Among the 580 lots are indoor and outdoor furniture, tableware, kitchen equipment, hotels, IT, household linens, etc. License IV will be sold on Thursday December 19 at 11:30 a.m.
The public exhibition of the lots takes place Tuesday, December 17 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Future buyers (or successful bidders) browse the premises: living room, restaurant room, kitchens on the ground floor. “Everything will be gone within two days,” comments Maître Caroline Brunel-Dejean de la Bâtie.
The restaurant room mainly accommodates tableware: silverware, glassware, crockery, ceramics… “Everything is numbered and individualized to make small batches in order to interest individuals,” indicates the justice commissioner. This will please people who want souvenirs from the inn. Some celebrated a wedding anniversary there, a baptism…There are memories. These objects are part of the soul of the house.”
The part concerning kitchen equipment is more reserved for professionals. Before formalizing a sale with the blow of a hammer, Maître Caroline Brunel-Dejean de la Bâtie warns of possible difficulties in dismantling and transporting large equipment, such as stoves. “We are planning a delivery day on Friday, December 20,” she continues.
In the rooms too, everything is for sale
The hotel part is upstairs. Everything in the rooms is also up for auction: beds, armchairs, tables, sofas, televisions, etc.
It is this “hospitality” part which, according to chef Sébastien Tantôt, has weighed down the restaurant’s finances. “There was too much maintenance and improvement work to rent all the rooms,” he said, considering that his business was no longer viable.
Appointed by order of the Compiègne commercial court, Maître Caroline Brunel-Dejean de la Bâtie’s mission is to “sell the auctions as best as possible”. She must collect as much money as possible for the liquidator, so that he “pays off the creditors”. Among the privileged creditors is the Public Treasury. Then come the so-called “unsecured” creditors, i.e. suppliers and lessors.
The purchase fee is 14.28%
The justice commissioner has no idea of the amount of the debt. She doesn’t want to know. “My only objective is to sell as expensively as possible, for the creditors,” she said. I must not let myself be overcome by emotion.”
How much can this sale bring in? “It’s not an exact science,” she explains. Impossible to say.”
Legal costs for buyers amount to 14.28%. That is to say, for a purchase of €100, he must actually pay €114.28.
