Barely appointed Keeper of the Seals and now Gerald Darmanin is much in demand in the Oise. Present at Liancourt prison on Wednesday December 25 to provide support to prison officers, the new Minister of Justice has just received a letter from the mayor of Beauvais, Frank Piafor a completely different subject, that of school ransacking Alphonse-Daudet and the annex of the Charles-Perrault school.
As a reminder, several classes in these two schools in the Argentine district were ransacked on the night of December 23 to 24 : computer equipment smashed with hammers, broken aquariums, stripped cabinets, overturned and damaged furniture… A police investigation was opened to find the perpetrators of these misdeeds.
“Strengthen the penalties linked to such acts”
In the meantime, the mayor of Beauvais took up his pen to write directly to the new Minister of Justice. In his letter, he asks for a certain firmness against criminals. “I hope (…) that justice will fully and effectively play its role, in the event that the perpetrators are confused and arrested, by firmly condemning them and sending an irreversible sign of an exemplary sanctionhe writes. Indeed, I consider that, as in the context of attacks on persons holding public authority, attacking a school is also an act of defiance towards the Republic, its values and its symbols. The school and its teachers must be respected and protected. This is why I ask you to strengthen the penalties linked to such acts to deter the perpetrators of this unacceptable behavior in the future.»
Before the start of the school year, which will take place on Monday January 6, municipal agents are hard at work putting these two schools back in order. So that parents and children can return to their school.
