This is the first serious accident since the start of the season hunting in the department, according to Le Parisien. A 67-year-old man from Noyon was seriously injured by a gunshot to the knee on November 3. The accident triggered a gendarmerie investigation.
According to the Compiègne public prosecutor’s office, questioned by our colleagues, the accident occurred during a big game hunt in Baboeuf, east of Noyon. The deer and wild boar hunt involved around fifteen hunters. The prosecutor provides details regarding the nature of the injury: “An entrance hole and a larger one at the exit seem to indicate a side shot.” It would have taken place at close range. The hunter suspected of having pulled the trigger was born in 1961, the newspaper said.
The victim who was hospitalized required surgery. His injury is described as “invalidating.” The investigation initially carried out by the gendarmes notably included a reconstruction of the accident on site. It was then entrusted to the OFB, French Office for Biodiversity, as is customary for hunting accidents.
