The response of the shepherd to the shepherdess… assistant. At the end of a 4-hour long municipal council, the mayor of Mouy Philippe Mauger asserted his “right of response” regarding previous accusations made by his first deputy and first opponent Katia Breton.
During a previous meeting of elected officials, the person concerned had, among other things, criticized the first magistrate for “public procurement violations”, “waste of public funds”, “negligence” and a sharp increase in the payroll of the municipality.
“You make people believe that the city is on the edge of the precipice”
Taking up each point, Philippe Mauger summarizes: “There is no serious breach.” Then, he adopts the principle of the best defense, which is attack.
“You are not credible,” insists the mayor of Mouy. “You interpret the numbers without taking into account all the parameters. You are giving advice that is inapplicable to the public service (…). You make people believe that the city is on the edge of the precipice. (…) You present yourself as the first deputy while you work against the interests of the municipality.”
And to ask an inquisitive question: “Where is the loyalty and honesty that the municipality has the right to expect from a first deputy?”
The intervention was classified, on the agenda, among the mayor’s information to the municipal council. She was therefore not calling for contradiction.
