Two people had been arrested on the occasion of demonstration of the “Squirrels” has Compiègnein protest against the project of Seine-North Canal. Both will appear in front of the Compiègne Criminal Court. The first will be tried for organization of a prohibited event on the public highway and the second for Outline on a police officer.
In a press release sent on the evening of this Friday, January 31, the public prosecutor Guillaume Dupont announces the appearance before the court of these two demonstrators.
The man suspected of being the organizer will be prosecuted
The first is suspected of being the organizer of the demonstration. Aged 40 and sentenced nine times between 2004 and 2023, he kept silent during his police custody. He will appear on August 26 before the Criminal Court for the organization of a prohibited demonstration on the public highway. He faces a sentence of six months’ imprisonment and 7,500 euros fine.
A demonstrator prosecuted for outrage
The second demonstrator arrested is a 45 -year -old man, unknown to the judicial services. He too kept silent during his interrogation. He will appear on May 20 for an outrage on a public authority, in this case a police officer. He faces a one year imprisonment and a fine of 15,000 euros.
