Alexandre Dumas, Jules Verne, Paul Claudel, Jean de La Fontaine, Marguerite Yourcenar … Many authors are from the territory. “Come and discover a forest of writers in Hauts-de-France”, invites the departmental council. It is a gallery of big names in literature in the exhibition hall of the Departmental Archives.
The inauguration of the International City of the French language of Villers-Cotterêts a few months ago made it possible to recall the strong links between the Hauts-de-France and the French language. Like the Retz forest adjacent, the literature is rich, beautiful and diverse, but connected by the same common roots.
Imagined by the Bédeiste illustrator Anne-Claire Giraudet and the network of writer’s houses and literary heritage of Hauts-de-France, this exhibition proposes to discover the “great forest” that the writers of our region compose. And in particular the department of Aisne.
A series of stylized portraits
From Ferté-Milon to Amiens via Château-Thierry, from Renaissance to contemporary times, the artist brings a renewed look at our rich literary heritage through a series of stylized portraits. To complete the course, the Departmental Archives of Aisne offer a selection of archive documents on these great writers who have marked the history of the department.
Anne-Claire Giraudet presented her exhibition through an unprecedented guided tour. In the presence of Cécile Maillard-Pétigny, president of the network of writer houses and literary heritage of Hauts-de-France. And Nicolas Rébérot, vice-president of the department in charge of cultural action and heritage.
“Organizing this exhibition at the Center for Departmental Archives and Library of Aisne is very special,” comments Nicolas Rébérot. This makes it possible to link this rich intangible heritage that represents literature and material heritage. Through the conservation work of the departmental teams, which offer certain archives linked to deepen the visit. »»
The exhibition is visible until February 28, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Center for the Archives and Departmental Library of Aisne, Park Foch, avenue du Maréchal-Foch in Laon.
