In many municipalities of Valoisit was the weekend dedicated to Telethon. Crépy-en-Valois was no exception. The city’s associations mobilized in all directions for this event which funds research into genetic diseases.
At the very top of the access steps to the village hall, rue de la République, members of the “Feel Fit” association pedal at full speed on training bikes. “I’ve only done three kilometers so far,” sighs Marianne, accompanied by Marc and Béatrice in an exercise called “Velothon”. Volunteers hail passers-by with mixed success: “Come cycle with us.”
Very good tastings
At the bottom of the street, Place Michel-Dupuy is invaded by barnums in which visitors can stock up for lunch.
The Antilles cultural association sells traditional accras, the cooking of which gives off a smell that makes your mouth water. The West Indian blood sausages are also successful and for the aperitif, the members of the association have not forgotten the rum and the ti-punch. Their neighbors, the Muslims of Crépy, are also in the kitchen, with tempting couscous to order, delivered an hour later. The members of the association also offer a choice of cakes from the other side of the Mediterranean. Mehmet, a member of the team, is delighted with the success achieved. “There are quite a few people and the weather is nice,” he rejoices despite the biting cold.
Firefighters on display
A truce on food, the young firefighters of Crépy sell key rings between two demonstrations of rescuing people with placement in PLS (lateral safety position).
In the afternoon, a tea dance and a lottery from the Les Mimosas association were held in the village hall. For cycling enthusiasts, meet at Place de la République at 2:30 p.m. for a bike ride dedicated to the Liberation of Crépy-en-Valois by the Valois History and Archeology Society. In the Marcel Quentin room, at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., women’s handball matches took place organized by the Handball Club Crépy-en-Valois which had dedicated the proceeds from the refreshment bar to the AFM Téléthon.
Last year, 19,600 euros were collected. This year, the organizers hoped to do better. With the substantial program concocted for this Telethon, the objective had every chance of being achieved.
