The campaign for the professional elections of farmers takes its course until January 31, 2025. Each union tries to put forward its vision of the profession and what it would like to improve. This Wednesday, January 22, Peasant Confederation went with this in mind to the Mutuelle sociale agricole (MSA), has Beauvais (Oise). Around ten farmers were received by the mutual to put forward their arguments.
The union representatives from Oise were accompanied by Véronique Marchesseau, the general secretary of the Confédération paysanne. Before their meeting with the MSA, they returned to their demands for their profession.
End of tax exemptions and better working conditions
The Peasant Confederation is campaigning for more and smaller farms than what is happening today. For that, the profession must attract more. To achieve this they want to improve working conditions, in particular with a right to replacement without liability in the event of illness, professional accident but also for the care of sick children or professional burnout.
Health plays a big role in their program since they would like better recognition of occupational illnesses. Particularly those caused by phytosanitary products. The Peasant Confederation is also calling for an increase in small pensions. And above all the end of tax and social security exemptions which contribute to having to stop with sometimes very small pensions.
