Organizing a festival in the grounds of a castle, in an idyllic setting, attracts crowds. Like the Château de Chantilly and its Gärten festival, the Château de la Trye in Hermes (Oise) will also host a festival next summer. The very first edition of Karma festival will take place on August 23. On the menu, pop-reggae.
An association of Hermes in the organization
At the initiative of this project, we find a local association, the OJSS (Office jeunesse sport service), based in Hermes. “We organize around ten cultural events per year, services for companies and individuals, and we have six sports sectionssummarizes Matias Callen, its president. We operate in the Sainte-Geneviève, Mouy, Beauvais triangle. These are the services which finance the organization of events and the sports sections, so that it is accessible to all. All our events are free, except festivals.»
This time, the organization requires more time and resources. A budget of almost €50,000 was planned. But that in no way frightens the members of the association’s office. “One of them came up with this idea.remembers Matias Callen. And for us, as soon as there is an idea, we try to make it come true.» In 2018, the OJSS organized intervillage games in Mouy, welcoming 4,000 people from 19 local communities. In August, they hope to attract between 2,000 and 2,500 people to Château de la Trye.
Pierpoljak headlines
To do this, the organizers have focused on a great program for fans of this style of music. With in particular Pierpoljak headlined by Natty Jean, Sir Samuel, Vanupie, Big Red, Kamini, Benijah, Puppasonic, and locals James Sun, Ludo & Tof Family and FJ. And regional councilor Chanez Herbanne will be godmother of the event. Reggae fans and locals eager for curiosity will mingle in the castle park in front of the unique stage set up for the occasion.
And that’s not all. In parallel, a vintage car exhibition will take place from 10 a.m. “Two associations from Sainte-Geneviève and Warluis will help us», specifies Matias Callen. A craft market will also be installed in the castle park. Around thirty exhibitors are expected.
Tickets are already on sale on the OJSS websitecurrently priced at €19, before increasing to €24 on January 1st, then €30 on June 1st. Entrance to the craft market and the vintage car exhibition is free.
Ideally, the organizers would like to repeat the event every year, changing the style of music each time. “It’s a great challengeconcludes the president of the OJSS. We hope people will enjoy it!»
