“In Olivier’s eyes“, is the title of this broadcastOlivier Delacroix on France 2. On January 8, theemission will have the theme: “Families of criminals : THE victims collaterals”. Among the testimonials which will be presented there, is that of Jean-Yves Labrousse. In 1983 he attended the murder of six members of his family.
Sole survivor of the tragedy
At fifteen years old, Jean-Yves Labrousse is a helpless witness to the murder of six members of his family. He knows the author of these murders who is none other than his sister’s ex-partner. At the time, Jean-Yves Labrousse lived with his parents. And his brother-in-law also lives there, hosted by his in-laws after losing his job. They are also the ones who find him a new job with a village merchant.
The drama began on October 6, 1983. Jean-Yves’ brother-in-law decided to make the meal, before disappearing. He won’t have dinner with the rest of the family. In the shepherd’s pie he prepared for them, he put sleeping pills.
In front of the France 2 cameras, Jean-Yves recounts the memories he kept from that night. “I’m going to wake up. I find myself in the hallway. In the darkness, I see something bright coming towards me. And I feel the blow. He stabs me several times.” He immediately falls against the wall. Realizing what is happening, he manages to take cover and plays dead.
He hears his brother-in-law attacking his sister (who had just left him for another man), then loses consciousness. When he wakes up, his parents’ house is on fire. He manages to get out.
On their arrival, emergency services found the lifeless bodies of Jean-Yves Labrousse’s parents, those of his grandparents and those of his brother and sister.
The author of these murders released in 2005
In Olivier Delacroix’s documentary, Jean-Yves Labrousse, the only survivor of that night, confides in what he became after these six murders. He also discusses how the facts were revealed to his daughter. He first told her about a car accident to justify the deaths of these six people. It wasn’t until much later that he was able to tell them the real story.
Facing Olivier Delacroix, Jean-Yves Labrousse also discusses the release of the author of the murders of his loved ones. He was released from prison in 2005.
At the end of the documentary, Jean-Yves Labrousse is filmed with his daughter and Constance Bostoen, the journalist co-author of the book L’écho des ombres, released in October 2023.
The program In the eyes of Olivier, on the theme “Families of criminals: collateral victims” will be broadcast on France 2, Wednesday January 8 at 10:35 p.m. and on france.tv
