He was the dean of priests in the Oise. Father Marcel Swiatek died at the age of 99, the diocese of Beauvais announced on Monday, February 3. The religious died the day before, in the commune of Domfront, commune of the Picard plateau. “It was his 75th year of priesthood,” said the diocese.
Father Swiatek was born on December 15, 1925 in Neuville-sur-Margival (Department of Aisne). Schooling
In the Saint-Joseph-du-Moncel private school, near Pont-Sainte-Maxence, the young Marcel Swiatek then joined the Grand Séminaire de Beauvais. He was ordained a priest in 1950, still in Beauvais.
Priest in Ecuador
The parish priest first found himself in 1956 in Marolles, in the Valois, until 1956. Then, he returned to Beauvaisis, as a parish priest of the Houssoye for twenty years.
“In 1977, he flew to the Ecuador to become a Fidei Donum priest. On his return in 1983, he became vicar of the parish of Estrées-Saint-Denis. From 1986 to 2000, he took care of the parish of Saint-Just-en-Chaussée. In parallel, he ensures the mission of chaplain for blind people located in Quinquempoix, still on the Picard plateau. Two ceremonies
Father Swiatek retired in 2000. First in Monceaux until 2009, then in Ansauvillers and finally to the Ehpad de Domfront.
His funeral takes place Friday, February 7 at 2 p.m. on Friday, in the church of Saint-Just-en-Chaussée. He will be buried in the family vault in Monceaux. A mass will also be celebrated for him on Saturday, February 8 at 4:30 p.m., in the chapel of compassion in Domfront.
