The fight against cigarette traffic is one of the priorities of the police. Thursday, February 6, it is a beautiful thread that the Creil police made in the heart of rue Jean Jaurès. It is known this street for incessant fights, repeated police descents and even to house at least two bars processed more or less into night establishment and whose games of money would punctuate the long evenings.
But this time, it was not a descent to try to stop these games of money that the police made. Well informed, they made a search of an individual and seized a dozen cigarettes of smuggling cigarettes. This represents more than 7,000 cartridges, or 70,000 packets, probably intended for sale and, among other things, in the station district. Sold between 5 and 7 euros per package, this represents a market value of the order of 350,000 euros all the same.
At the end of this search, a man was placed in police custody.
The national police page highlights “a beautiful thread”. Suffice to say that this result comforts investigators who have been a bit disappointed in recent months following unsuccessful descents in this same district.
The police had made white cabbage on this same street following a descent into one of the establishments suspected of providing their customers, real small slot machines. Enough to occupy part of the long summer or winter evenings for many, but the machines had been “moved” a few hours before the search, “said one of the investigators. This will only be awarded they promise.
