“In collaboration with the national police”
“We acted by preserving security and in collaboration with the national police,” explains Cédric Gaugard. We were in reinforcement with the men already engaged in the field. And we were dealing with multiple groups of delinquents. Our task was to minimize the destruction and damage generated in various points in the city. And above all to prevent this overflowing on other sectors of Compiègne. ”
Easier to say than to do, because the police have faced real ambush, punctuated by fireworks and voluntary fires. The gendarmes of the Compiègne company also intervened alongside the police. The municipal police had had to equip themselves with shields and helmets in order to deal with the attacks of the rioters.
Four nights of riots
Four nights, these delinquency actions reigned over the city and its districts. Christian Guyard, sub-prefect of Compiègne, praised this struggle for return to calm. Before giving the medal to the seven municipal police officers.
The state representative also praised the commitment of Mayor Philippe Marini in favor of municipal police and the increase in their means. “There is an expectation of communities in this sense because the municipal police have a proximity role with the inhabitants,” emphasizes the sub-prefect. Municipal police provide the necessary continuum of security. ”
Five other municipal police officers, absent during this ceremony, will also receive the interior security medal later.
