“This decision follows episodes of urban violence that the city of Compiègne has already experienced.” Philippe Marini, mayor of Compiègnerenews the curfew for the minors under 16 years old the evening of December 31.
This is a curfew for “unaccompanied” minors under the age of 16. It will be in force from December 31, 2024 from 10 p.m. until January 1 at 6 a.m.. In the following districts: city center, Clos des Roses, Les Jardins, Royallieu Pompidou, Bellicart, La Victoire-Les Maréchaux, Petit Margny.
There have been “serious acts” in the recent past. “Damage to street furniture, mortar fire, fires and even attacks on police officers,” lists the mayor. They endangered the safety of people and property.”
Report to the prosecutor
The police will return minors traveling in violation of this order to their homes. “The Public Prosecutor will be immediately informed of any incident requiring legal proceedings or referral to the children’s judge,” warns the mayor.
The mayor prohibits the sale, use and transport of fireworks of categories F2 and F3 on the territory of the municipality of Compiègne, except for approved professionals. This ban will apply from December 22 at 8 a.m. to January 2, 2025 at 8 a.m.
“Failure to comply with these provisions will result in sanctions,” concludes the mayor. In accordance with article R. 610-5 of the Penal Code, with a fine of up to 150 euros.
