It was Bernard Hellal, mayor of Margny, who proposed this idea during a lunch, President Marini recalled at the last urban council. Elected officials launched a business consultation for the work of the multimodal exchange hub of theGare eco-district of Compiègne-Margny. It is particularly a question ofadvance the statue of Joan of Arc on horsebackin order to enhance it.
This work concerns the Quai de la République. Place and rue de la Gare, rue d’Amiens and place of the 54th Infantry Regiment. They will follow the redevelopment of the crossroads at the exit from the Pont Louis XV. With the aim of “rationalizing traffic”.
The 54th RI square must be redeveloped to provide more space for pedestrians, with significant attention paid to green slaves. This involves moving the equestrian statue of Joan of Arc to the south of the Place du 54ème RI, whose visibility is therefore improved, from the Louis XV bridge, rue de Clermont and the quai de la Republic.
Moved and illuminated
This move is accompanied by a spotlight. It will require the removal of the statue m, which will benefit from a recovery of its patina and the fixing of the lower part of the pole which had been broken. The base, for its part, will be placed in conservation. It incorporates a specific rainwater recovery system which will be moved.
An overall cleaning (hydro-exfoliation and repointing) of the latter including the resumption of the lettering will also be carried out.
“It’s a matter for specialists,” notes Eric de Valroger, responsible for reading the report. It is therefore a question of launching a specific market. This unique lot includes the detailed study, movement, restoration and lighting of the equestrian statue of Joan of Arc.
“The symbol of our pugnacity
The estimated cost is around €120,000 excluding tax. This service is provided for in the forecast report of the multimodal exchange hub.
“We have to think about the visual aspect,” agrees President Philippe Marini. The statue thus advanced will count more in the urban aesthetic. Well lit, it will count as an urban sign visible to everyone. And which will be the symbol of our pugnacity, of our ability to cope.
