After the wishes of Sébastien Eugenethe mayor of Château-Thierryof the associations and residents have been rewarded this Thursday, January 9 at the Palais des Rencontres in the Castelle city.
The five associations rewarded with the delivery of the 2025 associative grant in the amount of €1000 for their actions to highlight certain aspects of Château-Thierry. The associations thus rewarded are:
Friends of the Château-Thierry and Monneaux temples: Since 2015, this association has worked hard to ensure that the centenary of the American Reformed church of Château-Thierry takes place in a renovated temple, capturing the light of its marvelous stained glass windows and resonating with the sound of its organ. It was a success and a very beautiful tribute to the Castel-Théodoric heritage.
The associative café (CAFE): Young, dynamic, fun and family association, the associative and cultural CAFE is present at all events. From board games to “Canap Gaming”, it offers games for everyone, from 0 to 99 years old, often accompanied by coffee and homemade cookies.
Walking friends: A friendship that works! For 30 years now, the association “Les amis de la Marche” has been investing in Château-Thierry every year for the 24 hours of the walk. Arouse, encourage and support the walkers is their slogan.
Guet Apens: It’s not a trap, it’s an Ambush. Castel’s first associative and inclusive café, it takes its name from the famous Belin biscuits. Open every Wednesday in the premises of La Biscuiterie, volunteers offer games, artistic workshops, concerts as well as a bar run by people with disabilities.
Association for the restoration, preservation and enhancement of the Saint-Crépin church of Château-Thierry: Half a millennium of history is carried by this association. Motivated and active for 5 years, in fundamental research for the restoration of the last still existing church of Château-Thierry, the Association for the restoration, preservation and enhancement of the Saint Crépin church of Château-Thierry has the support of the City in its approach to protecting our heritage.
City medals for residents
After the associations, several citizens were rewarded for their commitment to serving the city. These distinctions highlight their active contribution to local life. This year, the promotion is made up of 4 men and 4 women. During the ceremony, Jean-Yves Tassan also received the City medal which was awarded to him in 2022. Sébastien Eugène, mayor, departmental councilor and president of the urban community, indicates: “The municipality would like to thank these citizens for their dedication and commitment. These medals are given to them in recognition of their action. Each of them, in their own way, contributes to the vitality of our poetic city. » The 2025 medalists:
Stéphane Amélineau: Documentary professor at the Saint-Joseph middle and high school in Château-Thierry, his commitment goes well beyond the framework of teaching. Author of the book “Logbook of a Memory Route”, dedicated to the Shoah in Soissonnais, he works in close collaboration with the Foundation for the Memory of the Shoah in Paris. In this context, Stéphane Amélineau supports the families of victims in their archival research, helping them to decipher and contextualize the documents, and thus allowing them to reconnect with their history. Faithful to the duty of memory, he also acts as a speaker for schools, associations and institutions, tirelessly sharing his knowledge and his commitment.
Manu De Faria: Former active member of the Coop and former president of this association, Manu De Faria is a man whose discretion is as remarkable as his commitment. A veteran, he chose to actively participate in the duty of memory. True to his values, Manu De Faria is present at each commemoration as a standard bearer.
Christian Gaudet: He has been the president of the Castel Automobile Club for 7 years and is passionate about automobile heritage. He regularly participates in prestigious events such as the Monte-Carlo Historic Rally or the Le Mans Classic, where he showcases his love for vintage cars. In Château-Thierry, he is the instigator, with the members of the association, of numerous events, including the “Fables et Champagne” rally and the annual exhibition at the Palais des Sports, as well as during events in partnership with the City and other associations, like the European Heritage Days, which are all moments to share your passion.
Jérémy Cys: President of the Friends of Athletic Walking. Since his early youth, Jérémy Cys has walked the paths with determination thanks to his passion for athletic walking. A seasoned athlete, he gave a first glimpse of his abilities in 2006, finishing 14th in the general classification and 3rd in the senior category in the 100 kilometers of the French championship. He also took part in several 200 kilometer endurance events, notably placing 6th in 2008 in Château-Thierry. As president of the Friends of the Athletic March of Château-Thierry, he made his mark by organizing major sporting events such as the 8 hours of Étampes-sur-Marne and the 24 hours of Château-Thierry. His commitment goes beyond the local framework since he is also an organizing member of the prestigious Paris-Alsace, where he contributes to the safety of participants. A versatile sportsman, Jérémy Cys also practices mountain biking under the colors of the Étoile Cycliste de Château-Thierry. At the same time, he plays a key role in the organization of numerous local competitions, such as the Ekiden des Fables, and acts as a regional walking judge to ensure compliance with the rules.
Cécile Lambert: PE teacher and sports coach. Smile, dynamism, enthusiasm and kindness, these are the precious ingredients that this PE teacher and sports coach generously shares with her students and those around her. A true ray of sunshine, Cécile is a concentrate of good humor. Very involved in the Handball Club of Château-Thierry, she has supervised and trained many players who shine today in all categories. Her exemplary involvement, her communicative energy and her unfailing dedication make her an essential figure in local sporting life.
Isabelle Ribeiro: She has this rare ability to listen, empathize and understand which inspires and motivates everyone to surpass themselves. Thanks to her contagious enthusiasm, she encourages people with disabilities to get involved and thrive in sports. Invested and dedicated, Isabelle Ribeiro notably accompanied a team of young people during the European Youth Olympic Games in table tennis, contributing to their success and accomplishment during this competition. In recognition of her human values, her involvement in the development of disabled sports and the positive impact she generates, the city is pleased to award her the city medal.
Jocelyne Plateaus: Photographer and president of the Village Saint-Martin association, dedicated to the animation of the living space. In the village of Saint-Martin, she is an essential figure. From rue Jules Maciet to rue de Vincelles, via the Ru Fondu waterfall, no corner escapes him. Thanks to her keen photographer’s eye, she was able to capture the beauty of every corner, immortalizing precious moments. For her, meetings are as much with photography enthusiasts as with friends of Village Saint-Martin, the neighborhood association that she chairs. His commitment to his neighborhood is as deep as his dedication to the City of Château-Thierry.
Marguette Ledeuil (absent from the ceremony): Founding member and president of the “Chats sans roof” association, committed to the protection of animals, in particular through the sterilization and vaccination of stray cats.
Jean-Yves Tassan: He is deeply involved in local life. Former president of the association “Les Petits emploi de l’Omois”, his commitment has enabled many people far from employment to reintegrate professionally, thanks to exemplary management of an integration project. Its action was decisive in developing the skills of beneficiaries, restoring their confidence, facilitating their return to employment and promoting their social integration. Through his constant investment and kindness, Jean-Yves Tassan helped create concrete opportunities for those who needed them most. For his dedication and commitment to the most vulnerable, the City is honored to award him the medal of honor.
