Avrechy. Mayor Astrid Lequen announces her candidacy for the 2026 Municipal Elections

An announcement made at the very end of his speech. The mayor of Avrechy Astrid Lequenintends to remain mayor. This, at the end municipal elections scheduled for March 2026. The elected official expressed her wishes during the wishes of her municipality, Friday January 17.

“I’m going to represent myself in front of you to continue,” she explains. “Afterwards, it’s democracy. Everyone does what they want.” And added: “it’s my village. Obviously, I am attached to it. I am attached to many of you.” Astrid Lequen does not hesitate to point out that she was born in this town wedged between Clermont and Saint-Just-en-Chaussée. “In the smallest farm in the village,” she explains.

The library will reopen

But before thinking about the elections, there is still work to be done. This, after all the achievements already accomplished since the 2020 election. On the 2025 program, Astrid Lequen mentions in particular the reopening of the municipal library. This, after work which should end in February.

As a reminder, this involves carrying out repairs after a disaster that occurred in August 2024. A car hit the entrance to the library. Which damaged the carpentry. Thus leading to the closure of the service.

Sidewalks for Argenlieu

Added to this is school work. These must end definitively between May and June 2025. This, after a first part delivered at the end of last year. In particular the motor skills room, the canteen and its kitchen.

Another major project: “the construction of sidewalks in Argenlieu,” announces Astrid Lequen. “There are holes,” specifies the chief magistrate, attributing the fault to the passage and parking of exceptional convoys transporting wind turbines. Result: the quality of the roadway suffers, as do the shops in the town located on the D932.

And in 2026?

As for the 2026 elections, they risk turning out to be more lively than expected. With perhaps a list facing the outgoing mayor?

The Avrechy municipal council notably experienced a split during 2024 with the resignation of the local executive of Jean-Charles Lefèvre. He went from first deputy to first opponent.
