The annual winter meeting “Crépy Glide” has once again kept all its promises for its 21st edition. Returned to its historic location on Place de la République after 6 years at Cours Foch, the Crépy-en-Valois ice rink will have succeeded in bringing together, between December 7 and January 5, no less than 5,100 people, or 10% more than last year.
A party in two parts
The “Crépy Glide” event can be divided into two highlights. The first, for two weeks, is dedicated to schools, where primary school children go to the ice rink during their PE hours in order to conclude their roller skating cycles. It’s a fun alternative that delights the majority of schoolchildren in neighboring towns.
The second highlight comes with the school holidays during which we see a more family-oriented audience rubbing shoulders with Crépy ice cream. After spending time on the ice rink, children and families can enjoy the presence of a catering chalet offering crepes, beers and even mulled wines. “The atmosphere is always nice, it feels like Christmas with the presence of our catering chalet,” confides Laurent Maillot, the sports, entertainment and youth manager in the town of Crépy-en-Valois.
An event that pays off
In total, this frozen Christmas event brought in a little more than 21,000 euros for the town and 1,051 euros for the AFM Téléthon, which received all the proceeds from the opening day, Saturday December 7.
