Wednesday, December 4 in the morning, a traffic accident involved three vehicles, including a beet truck, on the R31, near Mercin-et-Vaux in Aisne, very close to Soissons.
Firefighters quickly rescued two victims, transported to the Soissons hospital center. A third victim, extricated, died.

The N31 was closed for a long time in both directions of traffic during operations. It was impossible to take the RN31 near Vic-sur-Aisne (diversion put in place), or from the Archer roundabout in Soissons, and the Mercin-et-Vaux roundabout .
