Demba Cissokho, 20 years oldresides at Villepinte (Seine-Saint-Denis)at his mother’s house. On November 11, he went for a walk in the Oise with a friend he had known for several years. The goal is to deliver laundry to a Beauvais resident to be given to a prison inmate. The young adult borrowed from a friend a rental Opel Corsa with which, although he never obtained a driving license, he drives very fast. It moves at the speed of 142 km/h in front of a radar instead of the regulatory 80km/h and does not stop when the soldiers ask him to. They then chase him.
He enters the A1 and the pursuit is launched
He forces the toll barrier Ressons-sur-Matz and enters the A1 motorway. This is the crew of the Alpine of the gendarmerie who has been warned who is waiting for him. The soldiers see the Opel Corsa passing at full speed, followed by a Renaut Scénic from the gendarmerie. The Alpine and its 250 horses begin the pursuit. The fugitive rolls 180 km/hdoubles from the right, fishtails. On the third lane, the gendarmes move up to observe the driver, because at such speeds it is better to ensure that the fugitive will not have any bad reactions. The goal is for everyone to return whole.
He stops at an area and tries to leave
The adjutant who is next to the pilot recounts this Wednesday, November 13 at the court of Beauvais (Oise) that he saw a man not stressed at all, with a determined look, who jerks the wheel in such a way as to send them against the central safety barrier. The soldiers then content themselves with following Demba Cissokho who ends up stopping after a pursuit of forty kilometers, at the entrance to a rest area. But he stops so as to leave as soon as the police get out of the car. The latter surround the car, weapons in hand. They ordered him to stop the engine, but he did not obey. The car starts to move forward. The gendarme on the driver’s side breaks the window and Demba Cissokho surrenders. The adjutant repeats that he did not feel “no stress in the car“.
The prosecutor is stunned by this total lack of emotion, by the determination, and by the confidence of the defendant. After having declared in police custody that he had swung the wheel to prevent the Alpine from passing, the defendant now says that he saw nothing.
The gendarmes who were in the Alpine are demanding compensation for having risked an accident due to the steering wheel.
He was also on drugs
Demba Cissokho is being prosecuted for the two refusals to comply, including one with endangering the lives of the gendarmes, driving without a license, driving under the influence of drugs and, as the presence of THC was noted in his blood, he is also prosecuted for cannabis use. And as he was convicted in May 2024 for drug trafficking, he is on probation. He has not respected the first obligation of this type of suspension which is not to commit new offenses and is a repeat offender. The prosecutor is asking for an eight-month prison sentence to punish his lack of awareness and his nonchalant behavior at the hearing. As well as a fine of €500 for excessive speeding.
He goes to prison for ten months
The defense lawyer, Emmanuelle Grevot, finds her client’s attitude disconcerting: “he is not very talkative, not very expressive, we wonder if he is shy or immature, or both. We think we are in front of the children’s judge with a defendant caught red-handed“. She asks the court to take into consideration her young age and her record which only includes one conviction in order to reduce the quantum of the sentence.
He was found guilty and received ten months in prison with a committal warrant, a €500 fine for speeding and will have to compensate the two gendarmes.
