A aquatic center renovated to serve users and environmental challenges. There reopening of the Estrées-Saint-Denis swimming pool is planned for Saturday February 1 and Sunday February 2, after a year of work. During an open house weekend, users will rediscover the equipment, which has since become theAquaplaine.
“The idea is for things to get going again, with a real party on Saturday and Sunday,” says director Bertrand Carpentier. Activities are by reservation: swimming tests, water sports, inflatable structures…”

Wellness area, fun activities and swimming
The creation of a well-being space is the other big novelty for users. Having become inseparable from a swimming pool, this space includes: sauna, hammam, sensory shower, Scandinavian bucket.
The activities go beyond learning to swim, with the appearance of water sports sessions. Among these new trends: aquafitness, aquabiking, aquaboxing, bodypalm, agoa (relaxation).
Aquaplaine offers a fun offering for families, without disturbing swimmers from the local club. A baby swimming session is planned for Sunday.
Outside, no pool, but a solarium, with a mineral beach and a plant beach. With obligatory passage through the footbath.
The work cost 3.85 million euros excluding tax
The work cost 3.85 million euros excluding tax. The community of communes of Plaine d’Estrées spent 1.641 million euros excluding tax. The State contributed €629,830. The region and the department each spent €750,000. The water agency contributed €69,000. The resale of energy certificates amounts to €10,000.
Arriving shortly before the start of the work, the Recrea company is the new delegatee of the intercommunal equipment. It notably manages other basins in the Oise or Aisne.
Entrance for an adult (over 12 years old) is €5.50 (previously €5) for residents of the Plaine d’Estrées, and €6.30 for those outside. There is a booklet of ten entries at €45 for residents of the Plaine d’Estrées (€52 for those outside).
Energy saving
Sold on site, the swimming cap becomes obligatory, due to the new filters, explain Bertrand Carpentier, director of Aquaplaine, and Damien Veta, regional director of Recrea. The intercommunal facility will now have nine employees around the basin (+2), three at reception and three in maintenance (+1). A Speedo boutique will offer swimwear and swimming equipment at reception.
Nicolas Monnehaye is the head of the public facilities department of Plaine d’Estrées. He became very knowledgeable about technical installations. “We have a solar carpet for water heating,” he says. The main benefit of the work, in addition to user comfort, lies in energy savings. “We made the building as airtight as possible,” he says.
30% less gas and electricity
Aquaplaine benefits from the most effective technical innovations in terms of water filtering. “Previously, we used a sand filter, but the quantity of water filtered was smaller,” he explains. Now we use a perlite filter.”
Wherever possible, installations recover energy to heat water and air, saving 30% on gas and electricity.
Concerning the water analysis (chlorine, Ph, etc.), it was necessary to introduce a product which polluted the water and it was lost. “This is no longer the case anymore…” says Nicolas Monnehaye.
