“There is no need to create unnecessary and cruel suspense”, so Christophe Dietrich announces that he will stand for re-election in the 2026 municipal elections in Laigneville. And, at the end, retain his mandate as mayor. The person concerned made the announcement during the greeting ceremony of his municipality, Friday January 24.
A particular reason pushed the elected official to make this announcement. “A persistent rumor tells me I will be leaving in 2026,” he explains. “You will probably have to put up with me a little longer…” And comment: “Unfortunately, no one is the master of the rumor, and since you are a character who is a little exposed you are also necessarily exposed to this sort of thing.”
Little room for doubt
Before making his decision official, Christophe Dietrich’s speech left little room for doubt. When he talks about the various upcoming projects, he comments: “As I know you are particularly insightful, you will inevitably have noticed that I am already planning beyond 2026…”
Among these investments, he obviously returns to the big project of 2024. Namely the complete renovation of rue de la République for 14 months. For the coming year, he returns, among other things, to the reconstruction of the stadium locker rooms “for the next few days.”
On the program for 2025 (and beyond…)
Added to this is the renovation of rue Portebois, from rue Douché-Rubé to the Black Pearl. “This project will probably begin in June and should end in September,” announces Christophe Dietrich.
“We will continue our multi-year investments in renovating our streets,” continues the mayor of Laigneville. “After Rue Portebois this year, in 2026 we will renovate Rue des Cerisiers and Place du Gymnasium. Then, in 2027, we will continue the third and final section of Rue de la République, from Rue des Jardins to Nogent-sur-Oise.”
The critics? “Let them sweep in front of their door”
By drawing up his assessment, by evoking the medical office, or his policy of returning illegal garbage dumps to the sender, Christophe Dietrich cannot help but make a few remarks to those who criticize them. Particularly those coming from “some of our neighbors”.
“These critiques, often based on ideological shortcuts as reductive as their ideas, seek to pigeonhole us into a political affiliation that is not ours,” comments the elected official. “If we take a closer look at our actions, it becomes clear that Laigneville is actually a model of social innovation. These concrete and avant-garde initiatives demonstrate a desire to renovate and modernize our public services, but in a deeply social and responsible approach.
And he said: “It is easy to make theoretical, ideological, even demagogic speeches, but what really speaks to our populations are actions! Those who allow themselves to give lessons in democracy or social management should first clean their house before criticizing the work carried out by others.” Passed on to interested parties who will recognize and appreciate it.
