THE gendarmes of the company of Compiègne scored a few points in the fight against drug trafficking on Wednesday January 16 in Noyon. According to the newspaper The Parisiantwo young men were arrested and placed in police custody as part of an anti-narcotics operation carried out in the Beauséjour and Saint-Siméon districts located to the south and north of the city.
One of the suspects was arrested in possession of several grams of packaged heroin, suggesting resale activity. A sum of 800 euros in cash was also seized from this same individual, which led the gendarmes to search his home. On site, a second individual was apprehended in possession of cannabis resin. While the first is the subject of an investigation for drug trafficking, the second will face detention.
An operation mobilizing 20 gendarmes
These two arrests were part of an anti-drug operation, organized between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., which involved around twenty gendarmes with the support of a specialized dog handler from Saint-Quentin (Aisne). The Compiègne public prosecutor attended the operations. According to the commander of the Compiègne company, who spoke to our colleagues, this type of reinforced device is essential to intervene in sensitive areas where individuals generally try to escape.
In total, around thirty people were checked during this operation. In addition to the seizures, this intervention also aimed to send a clear message to the residents of the neighborhoods concerned.
