The atmosphere is electric when the agents of the national police and the municipal police operate a control in the district of rue Henri-Dunant in Creil. An intervention as part of the “Place Nette” system, intended to put a stop to the anthill of drug trafficking. The action was not really to the taste of several young people who then gathered together and insulted the police.
At this moment, Oussoumane Thiam, 20 years old, was arrested after miming kisses on the mouth towards the police. He is also accused of struggling during his arrest.
“I have no problem with the law…”
Overheard during his police custody, the young man claims that he was outside his home and that he was hit on the head with gas for no apparent reason.
In front of the court where he appeared on December 20, Oussamane Thiam delivered his version. “I have nothing to do with the outrages and threats,” he assures. I never said “son of a bitch”. I don’t know why he hit me on the head. I never spoke with him. And I didn’t struggle. The kisses were aimed at a friend and I have no problem with the law…”
“The rebellion is perfectly characterized”
In her submissions, the public prosecutor emphasizes that a gathering did indeed occur and that the police faced a group determined to fight. “Even if the outrage was not corroborated by the other officials, the rebellion is, however, perfectly characterized.” It requires a sentence of 8 months in prison without a committal warrant with referral to the sentencing judge for possible adjustment.
The defense lawyer, Maître Guillaume Mestre, pleads his client’s innocence. “Today he filed a complaint and he is injured in several places,” he recalls. He hasn’t eaten anything for two days. The video surveillance images did not make it possible to establish the responsibilities of each person in this affair. At no time do we see him hit a police officer. On the other hand, he received several blows. Relaxation is required in this case…”
At the end of the deliberations, the accused is acquitted by the court. The prosecution announces that it is filing a partial appeal.
