The Oise prefecture has accepted the resignation of Michel Arnould from the chair of mayor of Verberie. This letter indicates that the resignation takes effect immediately.
“Cécile Davidovics, first deputy, is therefore acting until the next municipal council which will see the election of a new mayor,” writes Michel Arnold on his Facebook page.
He remains a member of the municipal council until the 2026 municipal elections.
“There was no question of me serving a third term”
“There was no question of me serving a third term,” the mayor explained during this surprising departure announcement. He wants a team with a new mayor to propose and execute the municipality’s 2025 budget.
Elected in 2014, re-elected in 2020, the mayor (SE) indicates that his successor is “known to all of you (the residents)”. Without giving his name, however. “He will be able to put himself forward for your vote in the 2026 municipal elections”, in “the interest of Verberie”.
According to the opposition, the first deputy could take the mayor’s sash at the end of the next municipal council.
