Lovers of skating on ice met at Place de la République at Crépy-en-Valoisthis Saturday, December 7. The operation “Crépy slides” will last until January 5.
Installed under a marquee, the sliding area was quickly taken over by families and many young people. Sometimes we had to wait outside, in the pouring rain, before being able to access the ice rink reception area. Inside, everyone could try on skates before accessing the ice area.
Local beer and mulled wine
Last year, 7,350 entries were recorded, in addition to nine privatizations. A more than satisfactory result.
Arnaud De Noni, who runs the restaurant “Comme avant”, located on the nearby rue Nationale, offers fast food in a corner of the marquee where tables and chairs welcome customers. “We do a little bit of everything, pancakes, pancakes, sweet, savory and for drinks we have local beer and, of course, mulled wine,” explains the restaurateur in the company of an assistant behind his bar . “I am very satisfied, there are really a lot of people for the first day,” he rejoices.
Somewhat worried grandparents
Behind the barriers bordering the ice rink, grandparents from the village of Duvy watch over their three charges, Thelma, Prune and Basile, with some concern. Anne, the grandmother, doesn’t take her eyes off them. “It’s a bit dangerous all the same,” she believes. After thirty minutes, she brings her little world home, relieved. Head home for dinner.
It is 6:00 p.m. and visitors continue to flock. Some manage to do figures almost worthy of figure skating in front of the envious gazes of those who are less comfortable on this decidedly too slippery surface, who spend too much time with their butts on the ice for their liking. Too bad, they still have a lot of fun in this improvised Holliday on Ice. Woolen hats and warm clothing are recommended. Gloves are mandatory. The city, which organizes the event, will donate all the sums raised to the AFM Telethon.
