From December 3 to 21, the Carmel – Abbeville Heritage House is transformed to celebrate the Christmas holidays. Between history, culture and magic, immerse yourself in a unique atmosphere where young and old are invited to experience unforgettable moments.
On Wednesdays, December 11 and 18, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., freely explore this ancient monastery and its gardens, imbued with the life of the Capuchin brothers and Carmelite sisters. In this historic setting enhanced by Christmas lights, let yourself be transported through the centuries. For those who prefer a more in-depth discovery, guided tours are offered on Saturdays, December 14 and 21 at 3 p.m. These guided tours open the doors to spaces usually closed to the public, revealing the secrets of the cells and visiting rooms, in an atmosphere imbued with magic.
From Tuesday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday December 7, 14 and 21, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., the “Lights of Carmel” installation illuminates the cloister, immersing visitors in a magical world. This unique lighting invites you to rediscover the daily life of the Carmelites until 1998, in a captivating scenography.
The festivities are enriched with creative workshops and games for the whole family. On Wednesday, December 11 at 3 p.m., learn how to make your own papercraft decorations, a delicate and fascinating art. A week later, on Wednesday, December 18 at 3 p.m., go in search of a mischievous elf who is wreaking havoc throughout Carmel. This immersive treasure hunt promises a fun and memorable adventure in a magical setting.
