The living room “Sewing, lace, knitting” invaded the Bouteiller space, Chantillythis Sunday 1er December throughout the day. This second edition was a great success despite the weather which hardly encouraged Sunday outings. In the room on rue du Bouteiller, Joëlle Dubois and Bernadette Vauleon-Mantel, from Lions club Chantilly Connétable, manage a tight-knit organization.
They have, among other activities, set up a “Speed knitting” competition, a knitting competition where competitors compete in skill. On the stage sits a tree made of 200 pieces of multicolored knitting meticulously made by enthusiasts.
Send 5,000 children on vacation to Samer
“The profits from this day will be used to send 5,000 children on vacation to Samer, in Pas-de-Calais,” underlines Joëlle Dubois, also president of the Friends of the Lace Museum. “It’s the Lions Club’s “5000 children live their dream” operation,” smiles Bernadette Vauleon-Mantel.
In the first aisle to the left of the entrance, Isabelle Dumont-Fillon exhibits her works created from Chantilly lace scraps. “It’s a passion that took hold of me almost thirty years ago when I discovered the Duchess of Aumale’s interest in this black lace, unique in its kind, which saw the light of day during the Second is getting worse,” she explains, inexhaustible on the subject. Isabelle Dumont-Fillon exhibits her creations under her artist name “Isoline” and shares the results of her research during conferences.
Some works denote originality
In this show dedicated to sewing, lace and knitting, certain works denote an originality that appeals to visitors, such as these creations by Nathalie Malledant which reveal undeniable imagination and talent. The artist exhibits works made of cardboard that imitate lace in a stunning way. The self-entrepreneur based in Beauvais also creates cardboard furniture.
The organization of the show also left an important place for leather goods. Delphine Bonvoisin presents her creations of leather handbags. As the hours pass, more visitors enter the room, some of them doing their Christmas shopping.
Will remain at the end of the day to restore the room, which also serves as a canteen during the week, to its initial state. If the show closes its doors at 6:00 p.m., the volunteers of the Constable Chantilly Lions Club will still have several hours of work left.
